Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is set to introduce Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing players to bring their console characters to PC through Xbox servers. This enhancement has long been requested by Xbox users who want to seamlessly transition their gameplay between console and PC using the same account. ESO, a standout MMO alongside titles like RuneScape and World of Warcraft, offers a vast shared world for solo or group exploration, set in the Elder Scrolls universe before Skyrim.
Confirmation about Xbox Play Anywhere came from ZeniMax Community Manager Jessica Folsom on Reddit, noting that the feature will launch later this year. Although it appeared briefly on the Xbox app, it isn’t live yet. The game will also join Xbox Game Pass, boosting its accessibility as a buy-to-play MMO.
It’s important to note this is not an account merge; Xbox accounts will operate on Xbox servers, while PC accounts remain separate. Additionally, ZeniMax is developing full cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, though no timeline is set. This development highlights ESO’s commitment to broadening accessibility and player connection across platforms.
